Because of the economy they may be in trouble and there is no protection as they are not a bank. They were fined by new york state and lost millions in a lawsuit for this yet they just started doing it again.
Then, an automated call that night at 12:30am, woke me out of a dead sleep! it said it was paypal and i have to verify my account by entering in my web id code. All was fine, i logged in, bought my item. I didn't remember my password, so i had them send it using an e-mail exchange method.
-my sleep is more important than an: "oops, sorry!" i filed a complaint with the fcc. Is there anything else i can do for you?". I called back, and they said "oops, sorry. I checked my vonage account the next morning, and sure enough it was paypal. Now very much awake, (and really pissed!), i got on the phone with paypal and asked them wtf? they said they had no record they called, and suggested it was someone else trying to scam me.
